“Klamath Land Back Tours acknowledges and celebrates the Indigenous People of the Land - the Modoc, Klamath, and Paiute Tribes. The three Tribes under one Treaty of the Klamath Tribes. We are here to protect the Land and its People to help secure their future. We are here to remind the uninvited tourists and settlers that this is Klamath Land. And it always will be. You are not entitled to the Land. You are not entitled to its resources. Instead, you are participating in its ecological collapse.

You are invited on an Afro-Indigenous-led tour with a Matriarch as she accesses and re-maps her Territory with her family. The tours are centralized on their Homelands in Chiloquin, OR. They are defined by their ancient histories and stories; their Treaty boundaries and stolen lands; their sacred sites which are now state/federal parks, and private land.

Now, their most sacred places are tourist attractions full of desecration and erasure. Klamath Land Back Tours offers a decolonized tour to help you understand the reality of what they are experiencing. They expose the mundane to reflect the continued settler violence. Their undeniable joy and Indigenous knowledge coupled with direct action is their response. This is their resistance to settler devastation and its resulting ecological collapse.

When you come to access Klamath Territory, you now have the opportunity to acknowledge whose Land you are on. You now have the opportunity to stand in solidarity, and you can give back. The Modoc, Klamath, and Paiute Tribes are the original and rightful stewards. And they are fighting for their survival. No cap.”

NATALIE BALL

Klamath Land Back Tours, LLC collaborated with artist Natalie Ball to create limited-edition Klamath Land Back Tees and Hoodies with embroidered patches. The apparel has screen-printed protest signs and other signage that clutter and whitewash Klamath Territory. These signs point and direct uninvited tourists to the Klamath, Modoc, and Paiute Peoples’ sacred sites that have been turned into state, federal and private lands. KLAMATH LAND BACK cancels out these signs and redirects you as a Detour. The text is from a local protest sign used to raise awareness for their traditional food, the C’waam, Yen, and Koptu - an endemic fish that are now fighting extinction. The fish are fighting to survive in the Klamath Lake that’s being killed from continued environmental racism and unsustainable and negligent cattle ranching and water theft.

Your purchase will help to protect the Klamath Lake and help fight the extinction of our ancient relatives, the C’waam, Koptu, and Yen who live there. Proceeds go to The Klamath Tribes x Seeding Justice, Ambo Fund, and towards the development of Klamath Land Back initiatives and Klamath Land Back Tour development. mo sepkecha, to Oregon Contemporary and the Ford Family Foundation for supporting the Klamath Land Back merch project.
